Facilities Make Over

Apart from protecting and conserving the natural habitat, the Park was established to promote public education and appreciation of nature. This is where the Park provides necessary services to meet the basic needs of the public. Ensuring a longer period of appreciation, accommodations are made available in the Park headquarters.

However, as the Park is now currently undergoing a reconstruction project on existing rundown accommodations, we are left only with the following types;

1) A unit of VIP Chalet

2.) Three units of Drive-In Chalet

3.) 18 Hostel rooms

For further inquiry, feel free to contact us at

Tel : 086-327284
Fax : 086-326251

The whole project is expected to be completed in April 2010. Looking forward to a brand new six units of Chalets and two units of double-storey Hostels.

Reptiles of Similajau

Similajau is home to a variety of wonderful wildlife. Reptiles being one of them. Green Turtles (Chelonia mydas) used to nest at the Golden and Turtle beaches long time ago. One will be lucky enough to be able to see them swimming in the sea nowadays. The estuarine or saltwater crocodile (Crocodylus porosus) is found in most of the rivers in the National Park. Latest survey conducted at Similajau river on the population resulted to an average of six individuals spotted every kilometer. As for snakes, we have a number of them...

Unsure of the species tho...

About 2/3 months old; locally known as Ular Sawa

Jelly Fish Season!

Found these dying jelly fishes closed to shore last week..so it's the season now!Well,we will usually discourage visitors to do any water activities during this period as it stings.

Jellyfish stings depending on species. Like the Box Jellyfish, it is recommended to seek for medical help immediately. As for other jelly fish stings, one can just rinse the affected area in vinegar.

There are spots on some part..probably spots indicating an adult jelly fish?It is also larger than the one below.

While this is clean transparent and smaller

Jungle Night Walk

After a year plus of working here,i finally had my first ever jungle night walk!We did not get to see much at first though except for some tiny creatures along with vocals of cicadas and some frogs..Towards the end of the walk, well thanks to Abg Julai, i get to be one of those lucky ones to spot the eyes of a Civet and a Mousedeer..syiok!

Some of the interesting looking wild lifes

Definitely a spider

I could have stepped on it if it was not for the observant Abg Julai

Batu Mandi

Thanks to Abg Rashid,we get to check out Batu Mandi-one of Similajau's beautiful product. Batu Mandi is actually a rock of 3 to 12m depth located about 0.5km from the shore. It acts as barrier protecting from wave, swell and seawater current action. Best part is that it is home to coral reefs and fishes!

The rock is visible when low tide
