Reptiles of Similajau

Similajau is home to a variety of wonderful wildlife. Reptiles being one of them. Green Turtles (Chelonia mydas) used to nest at the Golden and Turtle beaches long time ago. One will be lucky enough to be able to see them swimming in the sea nowadays. The estuarine or saltwater crocodile (Crocodylus porosus) is found in most of the rivers in the National Park. Latest survey conducted at Similajau river on the population resulted to an average of six individuals spotted every kilometer. As for snakes, we have a number of them...
